I spent hours and hours trying different “fixes” online. Most on the worthless Microsoft support page. None of those worked. THIS WORKS!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I to struggled with this until I discovered that the problem was that my pc could not recognize the Seagate 1TB drive this driver sorted it on my HP8440P.

This may not work on other machines – but is does offer a pointer to the problem

NYONI…you’re my hero! The Intel Rapid Storage driver did the trick for me! It also restored my search. Instant Karma for you, my friend. I’ve been trying to fix this for months…Thanks!
My issue was on a Gateway mid tower running Win7Pro…

Tried it twice and did not work for me. However, once I changed the updates setting from “Install updates automatically” to “check for updates but let me choose…” I was able to get updates. This computer hadn’t been used in a while and needed an update for updates!

    Thank you.

trae, I had the same issue, this solution didn’t work for me too. But your comment to change the setting to manually update did the trick!! Thanks!

Didn’t read ALL the comments, but I seem to be the only one that this process did not help.

Thanks so much. Great fix. I’ve been fighting this unsuccessfully since 2013 until now. This desktop was almost repurposed as a boat anchor, but its been saved.
